Stress can be very debilitating and especially strong in high demand positions like that of an online webmodel who deals with hundreds and sometimes thousands of people every single day! Adding to that the basic worries of life such as paying your bills on time, keeping your body fit and healthy, making sure you visit with your family and friends once in a while, may lead to disaster.
The term “burnout” is a relatively new term, originally defined as, “the extinction of motivation or incentive, especially where one’s devotion to a cause or relationship fails to produce the desired results.”
Burnout is a reaction to prolonged or chronic job stress and is characterized by three main dimensions: exhaustion, cynicism (less identification with the job), and feelings of reduced professional ability. More simply put, if you feel exhausted, start to hate your job, and begin to feel less capable at work, you are showing signs of burnout.
Burnout can leave people feeling exhausted, empty, and unable to cope with the demands of life. It may be accompanied by a variety of mental and physical health symptoms as well. If left unaddressed, burnout can make it difficult for an individual to function well in their daily life.
A vacation may offer you some temporary relief from the daily stresses of your job as a webmodel , but a week away from the office won’t be enough to help you beat burnout. Regularly scheduled breaks from work, along with daily renewal exercises, can be key to helping you combat burnout.
Studies suggest that incorporating some of the following practices into your daily routine will help relieve stress and avoid ever reaching burnout altogether.
Meditate – When you need to clear your mind and focus
Exercise – It doesn’t have to be as elaborate as going to the gym, getting a personal trainer and a nutritionist while you’re at it or following complicated work-out plans. It can be as little as 10 or 15 minutes of a type of exercise you enjoy, perfectly included into your daily morning routing just before taking a shower and getting ready for your day.
Eat good food -Good food here means food that is actually good for you. How can you recognize it? It has the best taste, smell & appearance, it is fresh, always easy to digest, is full of nutrients that leave you feeling satisfied after eating it instead of bloated and still hungry, leaves you full of energy and vitality and “big food” uses it to promote and sweeten all the other junk they are trying to sell to you. The human body is built to consume mainly fruits and vegetables, and giving it the right food will keep your body lean, fit and healthy and your mood positive. Try incorporating more of the good food into your daily intake and watch what happens.
Stay hydrated – Make sure you drink enough water! Experts agree that consuming 2 to 4 liters of water daily enhances your health and spends up your metabolic rate.
When you feel lost – Ask for help! E.g. friend, relative, specialist like life-coach, nutritional expert, personal trainer or fellow webmodel. Asking for help or talking to someone about your problems is extremely important. So instead of staying depressed and alienating yourself from your friends, family and the world in general, pick up the phone and call a friend, a relative or a stranger who specializes in dealing with the type of issue you are encountering. Sometimes just talking about it is enough to alleviate symptoms.
When you need someone to talk to that can help you crawl out of that dark place and lead you into the future you truly deserve, try talking to a life-coach. They like to stay away from labels, are usually very friendly and most of the time they end up as your friend, first sessions are usually less expensive or sometimes free, and you can get a fresh objective perspective from someone that may open your eyes to something you might have been missing or forgot to take into account. Just browse for one that you like and write or request a session.
When you need that extra motivation to kick-start your day try listening to inspirational videos or simply put on a favorite song and start to sing to it.
